Wales’ life sciences sector goes from strength to strength with a £2bn turnover, employing 11,000 people in over 350 companies

Life sciences is one of Wales’ fastest growing sectors. It has a turnover of around £2 billion and employs around 11,000 people in over 350 companies.

This week Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns visited Ipsen Group based in Wrexham. A global healthcare company supporting around 400 employees at its North Wales base, Ipsen Group recently announced a £22million expansion plan.

Alun Cairns said: “Ipsen Group is a great North Wales success story. Their continued expansion on the Wrexham Industrial Estate is a clear demonstration of the significant contribution life sciences & innovation in these specialist areas make to the region & to the Welsh economy.”
