China lifts ban on exports of British beef

A ban on the export of British beef to China has been lifted.

China has today lifted its longstanding ban on exports of beef from the UK, in a landmark move for British producers estimated to be worth £250 million in the first 5 years alone.

The merger between steel giants Tata and ThyssenKrupp will mean more security for workers, according to the two companies.

The merger has been welcomed by the unions.

They believe it will bring greater certainty for Tata's 8,500 UK workers, including 6,250 in Wales.
